Dredging Pump Application

Sand and gravel dredge pumps can be placed on board or integrated in submerged installations. Comparing with in board submersible dredge pump, the submerged dredge pump is highly used for larger suction depth, where the suction depth is out of a single pump self suction ability. The submerged dredge pump is installed is normally installed on the ladder, therefore, the submerged dredge pump can help on the dredger with deeper suction ability, more than that, submerged dredge pump is usually acting higher percentage of solid comparing with on board submersible dredge pump. The submerged sand dredge pump can work along with booster pump for longer distance.

Sand Pump Design

In the design stage we fully take into account the characteristics of sand dredging pumps，Sand dredge pumps are designed with features of:

•High efficiency: dredge pumps are designed with high efficiency up to 85% in dredging and pumping sand, the higher efficiency can reduce diesel power consumption.

•Large particle pass ability: dredge pumps are designed with large particle pass ability, for example, CSD600 dredge pump can handle 150mm and CSD500 pump can take 125mm particle pass ability.

•Long transfer distance: sand dredge pumps are designed with high pressure and long transfer distance, pumps are normally pump out ＞5.0 bar pressure and more than 1000 meters, the largest pressure of sand submersible dredge pump can achieve 16 bar, which can pump out 6000 meters in transfer distance.

•Long working life: sand dredge pumps are designed with long working life by using material of high chrome to wearing parts, including pump impeller, casing, wearing plates.

•Variable seal deigned: sand dredge pump can work with different seal design, including packing seal, expeller seal, mechanical seal, and U seal.

•360°discharge direction: sand pump can change into different direction of pump output, in order to best fit the discharge pipe.

•High proportion of sand: comparing with in board sand dredge pumps, the submerged and submersible sand dredge pump can take 70% of sand in weight, therefore, the sand dredge pump is designed with high proportion of sand character.

•Multiple driven modes: sand dredge pumps can be driven by diesel engine with gearbox, electric motor, hydraulic motor etc.

Dredge Pump Size Range:

Dredge Pump is ranged from size of 12 inch to 40 inch under DOD dredge pump model, the sand gravel dredge pump DOS model is ranged from size of 4 inch to 20 inch, and the size of submersible dredge pump is from 2 inch to 40 inch.

Dredge Pump Flow Range:

DOD Dredge Pump is from 600 m³/h to 25000 m³/h

DOS Dredge Pump is from 100 m³/h to 3500 m³/h

Submersible pump is from 30 m³/h to 25000 m³/h

Dredge Pump Pressure Range:

Dredge pumps are designed with high pressure up to 76 meters in order for long transfer distance in dredging project, the larger pressure the pump are, the longer distance the sand pumped out, more than that, the high pressure to the dredge pump normally requires of higher rotating speed and larger engine power, whereas, when pump is working in shorter distance, it requires less pressure of the dredge pump, we normally use larger discharge pipe to achieve higher sand output. Therefore, in general speaking, longer distance requires higher pressure of dredge pump, higher rotating speed and engine power, whereas, shorter distance requires less pressure of dredge pump, slower rotating speed and less engine power.
